DAY 28
For our last full day with Papa, we decided to splurge by buying tickets for the tram at Jackson Hole and hike higher up in the mountains. Jackson Hole is a fancy ski resort (a little different than Whaleback) with what looks like some incredible terrain. The tram up was fun and James was quite happy to not have to hike up. When you get off, you are at 10,450 ft without having to sweat at all.
Our next hike was the Cirque Trail which wound down the mountain to the top of the gondola. The ski trails looked like they would be awesome. It was a nice, single track trail that we hiked though. What stood out about this trail were the wildflowers. There so many different colors, shapes, and sizes - and they smelled so good. It was like hiking through heaven.
At the gondola, there was another 2 mile hike that Maya, Mama, Papa, and I did called the Casper Ridge Loop. The four of us actually ran this hike, only stopping to take a few pictures before we continued running. It was really fun to go at such a fast pace.
Our day of hiking concluded with a ride down in the gondola. We got to see some mountain bikers tackling the terrain park - it looked so fun. Once back in Jackson, we grabbed some ice cream. While this has not been a culinary tour by any means, we have managed to sample ice cream from all over the country. For dinner, we had yummy chicken Caesar salad with lettuce from Christa and Robb's garden and then enjoyed some chill time chatting around a fire and snacking on s'mores. A great day was capped off by a good night's sleep in the camper.
Oh boy, that sounds just like pop! Ski season can never come quick enough for him. We have also enjoyed ice cream all across the country, it's always a nice pick me up. Also, how nice to reconnect with friends. Jackson Hole has a very special meaning for us we're happy you made it there. Karen wasn't able to be with you, but her spirit certainly was.
