DAY 3
This is our third day. From my point of view, even the driving sections not so bad.Today, we crossed our first time zone, giving us an extra hour of day. With this hour, we decided to visit a little town with big things in it. Like, record braking big. Casey, Illinois has made 8 world records with their ginormous wooden statues and carvings of chairs, golf tees, mailboxes and more. We get to meet the builders, and chat for a while. They tell us about how to make scaled models using lots of math. We think that Pop-Pop Barnett would really like this place. We take pics in various places, and mail a letter from the worlds largest mailbox. We also grab some treats from a candy store featuring big wooden shoes as well.
Later, we also visited Lewis and Clark’s starting point in Missouri. We watch a short film, look at some cool artifacts and replicas of the boats, then head over to a big statue of Lewis and Clark. We get some fun shots with them and their dog, although the metal is scorching hot so we had to be careful.
The quotes already posted from today were just some thoughts about the journey from each “crew member.”
